Radiology is a busy department providing Xray, CT, MRI,Fluoroscopy and Ultrasound services for the Emergency department, In-patientsand Out-patients. We provide 24/7 diagnostic services to the hospital usinghigh-quality up-to-date equipment.
This role includes covering boththe Mammography and X-ray services at University Hospital of North Durham,delivering care to our local population, with participation in out of hoursworking. You will work closely with the Lead Radiographer to help maintain,support and aim to continually improve our department and services.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will show excellent imaging and leadershipqualities required to support and work collaboratively within the Mammographyand X-Ray service.
The post holder will be an integral part of the Radiologyteam, working closely with colleagues to ensure smooth delivery of care for thepatients, whilst maintaining Radiographic standards and promoting good practiceto Radiographers & Radiology students.
The staff member will be responsible for promoting thecontinuing professional development of other Radiology personnel and isexpected to engage with Clinical Governance in the department.
To adhere to good practices of Radiographic technique andabide by the acknowledged safe practices of radiation protection standards.
To assist in the day-to-day running of theMammography and X-Ray services and to act as a support to the Lead Radiographerthrough delegated duties. Eg. Rotas, annual leave etc

Provide day to day leadership, includingmanaging workflow (flow duties) within the X ray department to keep servicesrunning smoothly.

Promote teamwork to provide a high-qualityservice and a positive working environment for all staff members.
Able to work closely with our Mammographyteam in the South of the trust, to provide an efficient service
Respond effectivelyto equipment issues, following procedures to minimise disruption and maintainsafe service delivery.
Maintain awareness of current trends &developments in all aspects of your practice & actively participate in CPD.
Ensure that all incidents and complaintsare recorded. Ensuring that complaints that cannot be dealt with locally aremanaged and passed to the appropriate person.
To participate in the Clinical governanceactivities within the Radiology Directorate.
Participate in the out of hours serviceprovision.
To carry out any otherreasonable duties, in line with banding, as required to support Line Manager.

- Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post
Experience
- High level of competence and knowledge in Mammography and X-Ray imaging.
- Good knowledge of Clinical Governance
- Good knowledge of QA programmes
- Audit and benchmarking experience
- RPS experience
Qualifications
- BSc/MSc/DCR Radiography
- Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography
- Commitment to CPD
