This is an exciting opportunity to join a developingservice with the Community Directorate.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated registerednurse to join the adult bladder and bowel service.
The base for this post will be Innovation House, BishopAuckland. This is a Countywide Community post so locality work will be requiredaccording to service need. This roleinvolves a mixture of working within clinics, home visits, care homes andoffice environment, providing face to face as well as telephone assessments /reviews.
The post will allow you to work in a specialist service anddevelop specialist skills / knowledge and expertise in bladder and boweldysfunction. This is an excitingopportunity to become part of an innovative and forward-thinking communitybased team. You will make a valuable contribution to the way local bladder andbowel services are organised and delivered in order to provide high-quality,cost-effective services to people living in County Durham and Darlington.
The role issupportive of family friendly hours working predominantly Monday to Friday (dayhours, eg: 08:30-16:30.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have a passion for deliveringhigh quality care to people with bladder and bowel dysfunction. You will bedynamic and caring with excellent communication skills as patient education andsupport is an important component of the job.
Prior experience inbladder and bowel dysfunction and the promotion of continence is desirable,however, this is an opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills.Your professional development will be supported by a mentor and regularclinical supervision.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Person Specification
Experience
- Clinical community experience
- Bladder and bowel assessment / treatment experience
- Experience of audit / research
Statutory Registration
- Registered Nurse (adult) on part 1 of the NMC register
- Valid UK NMC PIN
- Community prescribing or willing to work towards
Qualifications
- Bladder & Bowel dysfunction experience or willing to work towards
- Teaching / mentorship qualification or willing to work towards
Special Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of issues in bladder and bowel care
- Knowledge of budgetary control
Special Requirements
- Ability to travel independently across the County to fulfil requirements of the post
- Ability to work flexibly in differing environments to meet the needs of the service
- Driving posts must have valid Full UK driving licence
