Personalised Care Support Officer

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a band 3 Personalised Care Support Officer to join our small and friendly team within Cancer Services. This exciting role will work across County Durham and Darlington and will support the teams that deliver cancer information, education and personalised care and support to people affected by cancer.

You will have a flexible and positive outlook and will require good interpersonal and communicationskills. You will underpin the development of personalised care in cancer through the provision of administrative support across our team.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide a range of functions to support the Macmillan Personalised Care, Cancer Education and Macmillan Information and Support teams including data audit, data reporting, minute taking, delivering cancer awareness activities and providing information and support to people visiting the Macmillan Information and Support Centres. Some specific tasks may include maintenance of the intranet site, coordination and production of a regular newsletter, planning and organising education and other events, and gathering patient experience feedback.

Job responsibilities

You will work as part of the wider Cancer Services team to support the delivery of safe, compassionate and joined-up care. You will have some direct patient contact and your role will make a valuable contribution to improving the experience of people living with cancer.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Mathematics grades A-C or equivalent.
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Administrative / secretarial experience. Customer/patient care experience. Experience of organising and prioritising own workload.
  • Computer literacy experience of using a wide variety of systems including Microsoft packages.
  • Experience of working in the NHS. Awareness of cancer pathways and treatments.
  • Experience using medical databases/systems.

Special Requirement

  • Ability to input data for significant periods of time using a VDU. Ability to concentrate on tasks whilst managing frequent interruptions. Ability to cope with exposure to details regarding patients that may be distressing. Ability and willingness to travel across trust sites as required. Professional appearance and demeanour. Positive attitude towards change. Flexible and adaptable.
