This is an exciting opportunity for a maternity care assistant to work in our antenatal outpatient clinic. We are looking for a reliable, dynamic and driven individual to join our team on a permanent, part‑time basis. You will be supported and welcomed into your role and we are keen to develop our staff to deliver exceptional care to the families of County Durham and Darlington. Main duties of the job:
The role of the Maternity Care Assistant in antenatal outpatients involves supporting the day to day running of the clinic, providing a wider range of care and support to our birthing people, supporting members of the midwifery and multidisciplinary team, administrative duties and housekeeping.
Job responsibilities:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard‑working Maternity Support Worker who is committed and passionate in providing care during pregnancy. This important role will include caring for women, birthing people and their families throughout the antenatal period and will include working alongside the midwifery team to provide education, support and care to birthing people in the Antenatal Clinic setting. Safety of our women and babies is paramount, and so we are looking for a caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic staff member to join our team.

- An understanding of the key public health messages around smoking, healthy lifestyle in pregnancy and infant feeding knowledge would be desirable

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- Care Certificate or willingness to complete within the first 6 months of commencement in post
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Previous experience in a maternity setting
- HCA experience within an NHS setting
- Ability to carry out clinical observations, recognising and reporting deviations from the norm
Special Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent communication
- Proven ability to work effectively independently and within a team
- Approachable and able to build relationships with a wide variety of colleagues
- An understanding of the key public health messages around smoking, healthy lifestyle in pregnancy and infant feeding knowledge would be desirable
