An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a suitably experienced and motivated Management Accountant to join our successful team within the finance function at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

About us:
We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities:
You will have excellent numerical and analytical skills and possess the ability to work autonomously, achieve deadlines and prioritise your workload. Significant experience in Microsoft Excel and a good understanding of general ledger accounting software would be an advantage.

In addition, we operate an agile working policy, whereby the team are based on site at our base in Darlington for three days per week and have the option to work at home, where preferred, for the rest of the week, on a rota basis. The trust also supports anyone wishing to study towards AAT within this role via the apprenticeship route. This role is positioned within the team structure to enable excellent developmental and career progression opportunities.

Special Skills & Knowledge:
- The ability to provide and receive complex financial information to/from financial and non‑financial staff orally, in writing or electronically in a professional manner.
- Good computer skills with experience of the Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word.
- The ability to input into and interrogate the Finance General Ledger to obtain standard and ad hoc reports.
- Has the ability to quickly learn new skills and tasks as and when required.
- Ability to work to all routine and ad hoc deadlines.
- Ability to identify and act to remedy circumstances that mean a deadline is at risk.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to provide training, advise and review the work of more junior team members.
- Must have good analytical skills.
- Possesses basic organisational skills.
- Has an appreciation of the NHS finance regime.
- Experience of Oracle Finance Ledger system.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs / O Levels (A* - C) including Maths and English.
- Demonstrates a track record of academic achievement or has experience of working within a finance function.
- Experience of working within an NHS finance function.
- Studying towards a professional accountancy qualification.
