Are you looking for a hands-on role supporting essential NHS services within a hospital environment? Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, providing Estates and Facilities services across Trust sites. We are seeking a motivated and reliable Semi-Skilled Maintenance Assistant to join the Estates team at Darlington Memorial Hospital.

This role supports skilled craft staff in maintaining critical hospital plant, equipment and services, helping to ensure a safe, compliant and well-maintained environment for patients, staff and visitors. You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary Estates team with opportunities to develop practical skills within a healthcare setting.

The post holder will support Estates craft staff in delivering planned preventative and reactive maintenance across hospital buildings and services. The role involves carrying out semi-skilled maintenance tasks, assisting with inspections and testing, completing basic repairs, and undertaking labouring and cleaning duties as required.

You will work independently on appropriate tasks, respond to maintenance requests via the electronic helpdesk system, accurately complete job records, and participate in shift and on-call rotas. Flexibility, good communication skills and a strong commitment to health and safety are essential, particularly when working in sensitive patient environments.

SCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) set up to deliver a range of non-clinical services. The company is a separate legal body to CDDFT.

  • Access to a pension scheme - National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) CDD Services will pay a 3% contribution (this is over and above the minimum contribution rate at the present time)
  • Night Shift Working Allowances (where appropriate)
  • Bank Holiday Working Allowances (where appropriate)
  • Bank work is offered on an 'as and when' basis with no guaranteed hours and will be paid on a pro-rata hourly rate for hours worked only
