Children's Domestic Abuse Support Service (CDASS) is a dedicated team of qualified social workers and child care professionals focused on supporting children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. Specialising in trauma impact, the team uses a therapeutic, talk-based approach to help children express their feelings and address abusive experiences. Combining safeguarding and child protection expertise, CDASS aims to build a trusting relationship with each individual through direct or online support.
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate sessional worker to support the organisation’s mission of assisting child victims impacted by domestic abuse. The primary responsibility of the sessional worker will be to actively raise awareness of CDASS services within local schools in Wakefield and the West Yorkshire community. This includes ensuring that child victims know where and how to seek help.
In this position, the sessional worker will play a key role in the ongoing development and expansion of CDASS. They will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies in schools to assess needs and opportunities for support, as well as organising and leading school assemblies designed to inform and educate students and staff about domestic abuse and the critical support CDASS provides. Additionally, the sessional worker will deliver short-term Talking Really Helps (TRH) programmes, offering targeted assistance to participants. This temporary post is for up to four months, with the possibility of extension if further funding is secured. Throughout all activities, the sessional worker must ensure that the voices and experiences of affected child victims remain a central focus.

Essential and Desirable Criteria
- Social Work Qualification (Desirable): While not essential, possessing a recognised social work qualification is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of Domestic Abuse and Its Impact on Child Victims (Required): Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of domestic abuse, with particular emphasis on how it affects child victims.
- Relevant Experience in Child-Focused Settings: Applicants should possess a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working with children or young people.
- Enhanced DBS Check (Required – Update Service): This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to interview.
- Safeguarding Training Qualification (Required): Candidates must have a recognised safeguarding training qualification.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities are necessary to effectively engage with children, young people, and other stakeholders within the community.
