The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist contractor delivering complex, high-value projects. This is a hands‐on, delivery‐led role suited to a site‐grown QS who is comfortable owning packages end‐to‐end and driving commercial performance. This position is initially offered on a freelance or permanent role for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Full commercial ownership of work packages from procurement through to final account
- Preparation, ownership and presentation of CVRs
- Proactive management and negotiation of variations both upstream and downstream
- Commercial reporting, forecasting and cost control
- Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, payments and final accounts
- Strong collaboration with site teams, project managers and clients
- Supporting commercial strategy and driving margin protection and improvement
- Maintaining accurate, timely commercial data – using systems
About You
- A Senior QS – delivery-focused, commercially astute and decisive
- Proven experience running packages end-to-end on live construction projects
- Strong background working for a specialist contractor or on complex MEP/infrastructure packages
- Confident dealing with subcontractors and senior client stakeholders
- Comfortable challenging, negotiating and standing your ground when required
- Data centre, power or major infrastructure experience is highly desirable
- Pragmatic, commercial and solutions-focused – not a paper pusher
