About the Role
We are recruiting a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor for a specialist construction subcontractor active in drylining, façade systems, structural framing and other external building envelope works. The successful candidate will join the commercial team to support cost management across a pipeline of internal and external projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets and tender documentation.
- Manage commercial aspects from tender stage through to final account.
- Measure and value work in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Produce interim valuations and applications for payment.
- Monitor project costs and financial performance.
- Analyse and prepare contractual variations and change control.
- Assist with procurement of subcontractor packages and materials.
- Forecast cash flow and assist with cost plans.
- Maintain accurate project commercial records.
- Liaise with project managers, site teams, suppliers and clients.
- Support timely submission of valuations and cost reports.
- Assist with negotiation of subcontractor and supplier payments.
- Contribute to commercial risk identification and mitigation.
- Support compliance with contract requirements and procedures.
- Attend contract meetings as required.
- Analyse cost reports and track profitability.
- Assist with final accounts and project close-out commercially.
- Provide input into value engineering and cost saving opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with estimating and procurement teams.
- Prepare monthly cost reports and CVRs.
- Ensure alignment between delivery and commercial objectives.
- Support director and senior commercial staff on ad hoc duties.
- Maintain commercial data and contract documentation.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against budget.
- Contribute to continuous commercial process improvements.
- Support dispute resolution relating to cost or contract.
- Ensure commercial practices align with company policies.
- Provide effective communication across project stakeholders.
- Represent the commercial team in site cost reviews.
- Assist with pricing of scope changes and approvals.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, preferably with exposure to drylining, façades, SFS or external finishing systems.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or equivalent.
- Good understanding of cost planning, valuations and contract administration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with commercial software is desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness and numerical capability.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to sites as required.
