We are Fenris Creations London, a dynamic team working on a brand-new sci‑fi sandbox FPS game, EVE Vanguard. Our focus is to create an immersive sandbox experience featuring stunning visuals and intuitive gameplay, utilizing player feedback from our passionate fans and adding ground‑breaking connections with EVE Online.
As a Senior Technical Artist, you will play a key role in our ongoing development of workflows and tools in support of our World Building pipelines. You will build modular, scalable workflows that empower the team to create compelling environments while ensuring strong collaboration, technical consistency, and a high standard of artistic output. You will stay up to date with the latest tech from Epic, support level designers and artists, and help define, document, and teach best practices across departments.
Your Tasks
- Develop and support worldbuilding workflows, working closely with Level Design, Environment Art, Game Design, Rendering, and Engineering.
- Build and maintain modular workflows that help the team create high quality environments efficiently and consistently.
- Develop and maintain level design tools and systems.
- Develop procedural solutions for terrain, foliage, asset placement, environmental dressing, and scalable world creation.
- Work with Rendering and Engineering to make sure environments meet visual targets while staying performant.
- Work with Gameplay, Design and Gameplay Engineering to ensure modular content pipelines meet their needs and standards.
- Act as a key point of contact for worldbuilding pipelines, help identify blockers, improve processes, and keep workflows clear and practical.
- Support end users and help troubleshoot and iterate on workflows.
- Help define and document best practices for worldbuilding, modular kits, Blueprint usage, asset setup, naming conventions, and performance.
- Mentor artists and designers in technical workflows and support a shared understanding of scalable environment production.
- Keep up to date with latest UE tech. Take future updates into account and develop accordingly.
Your Profile
- Senior level experience as a Technical Artist, Technical Environment Artist or Level designer.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Unreal engine 5.
- Expert understanding of Blueprints.
- Experience working with C++ in UE 4/5.
- Strong understanding of real‑time rendering and performance optimization.
- Hands‑on experience planning, designing, building, and maintaining World Building pipelines in UE5.
- Strong understanding and hands‑on experience with procedural content generation in Unreal 5.
- Strong understanding of modular content principles for Artists, Level Designers, and Gameplay.
- Experience developing tools for Level Designers and Environment Artists.
- Strong artistic eye for composition, visual quality, and environmental storytelling.
- Ability to interpret concept art and Art Direction and make informed worldbuilding decisions.
- Solid knowledge of Environment Art pipelines.
- Solid knowledge of material pipelines and PBR.
- Solid understanding of World composition for Biomes.
- Solid understanding of Level Design principles and player communication.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to plan, document and break down work for both your discipline and adjacent teams.
- Experience documenting workflows, creating best practices, and mentoring artists and designers.
