CCP Games are seeking a Lead Game Designer to guide the design team on their exciting new EVE: Vanguard title. In this role, you will oversee gameplay systems, compelling mechanics, and player progression, ensuring that every aspect of the game delivers a high-quality, engaging player experience. As a hands-on design leader, you will collaborate closely with leads across Art, Production, and Engineering to realise the game’s creative vision, while mentoring a talented team of designers and contributing directly to the design process. Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of designers, fostering creativity and professional growth.
- Ensure all design elements align with the game’s vision and production goals.
- Conceptualise, prototype, and implement core gameplay systems for an MMO first-person shooter.
- Collaborate across disciplines to deliver cohesive and technically achievable designs.
- Maintain and update design documentation, including the Game Design Document (GDD) and internal wikis.
- Dedicate approximately 50% of your time to hands-on design work such as combat, systems design or progression.
- Review builds and provide actionable feedback to improve gameplay and quality.
- Analyse player data and feedback to refine features and balance gameplay.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Lead Game Designer, with a strong background in first-person shooter design.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience within a design team.
- Deep understanding of progression, gameplay mechanics and systems design principles.
- Excellent communication and cross-discipline collaboration skills.
- Ability to balance creative vision with technical and business requirements.
- Strong understanding of design documentation, pipelines, and iteration workflows.
