HR Advisor - Defence

CCL Global is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to support a major UK defence organisation.

The successful candidate will provide first and second-line HR support across the organisation, advising employees and managers on HR policies, procedures and employment matters while supporting recruitment, onboarding, learning & development and wider people initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line HR advice to employees and managers.
  • Advise on HR policies, procedures, leave, payroll and employee benefits.
  • Manage HR queries, escalating complex matters where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate HR documentation, employee records and case information.
  • Produce HR reports, management information and workforce metrics.
  • Support recruitment campaigns, interviews and employee onboarding.
  • Support Learning & Development requests, budgets and reporting.
  • Contribute to employee engagement and wider HR projects.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, data protection and organisational policies.
  • Work collaboratively with HR colleagues, managers and wider stakeholders.

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience working as an HR Advisor or similar HR generalist.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures and employment law.
  • Experience providing first and second-line HR support.
  • Understanding of Civil Service HR frameworks and practices.
  • Experience using HR information systems and maintaining employee records.
  • Recruitment and onboarding experience.
  • Strong HR administration, reporting and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Active SC Clearance - essential.

Desirable

  • Previous Civil Service, defence or wider public sector HR experience.
  • CIPD qualification or membership.
  • Experience with HR metrics and management information.
  • Learning & Development and employee engagement experience.
  • Experience supporting organisational change or wider HR programmes.
