Location: Reading

Overview: To lead and manage a technical team; providing effective leadership as the main contact point for all team members and/or other team leaders. To maintain a technical capability that delivers critical skills and resources aligned to current and future business requirements to deliver the integrated technical programme.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for leading, coaching and developing a team at a local level to deliver team and personal objectives safely and securely to meet our operational plans, including mentoring and career development of staff.
  • Assessing staff performance, measured against agreed personal objectives and accountabilities, and taking corrective action to improve performance where necessary via appropriate management interventions.
  • Provide knowledge and technical expertise in the field of technical specialism.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality.
  • Deploy appropriate resources where they need to be allocated to deliver engineering solutions, across multiple disciplines and projects.
  • Accountable for ensuring that engineering resources are competent, capable, appropriately assessed and that evidence exists in line with company processes.
  • Engage and inspire colleagues, promoting a diverse & inclusive environment that encourages them to seek opportunities for continuous improvement and personal development.
  • Ensure compliance with Licence/Authorisation Conditions, Legislation and Regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver the programme and mobilise resources in a safe, secure and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the team produce high quality work, that has been subjected to the correct governance processes as applicable.
  • Ensuring that the work undertaken by the team and/or teams is consistent with strategy, policies, processes, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Effective stakeholder management, engaging others to have a positive impact on decisions and programme delivery.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the team maintain accurate configuration of engineering deliverables.
  • Providing an agile capability, delivering critical skills and resource aligned to business requirements underpinning the Programme.

  • Location – able to commit to 100% onsite attendance
  • Stakeholder management
  • Significant experience delivering engineering or infrastructure programmes in highly regulated environments, ensuring compliance with stringent safety, security, and quality requirements.
  • Proven capability in leading and contributing to technical design reviews, ensuring engineering solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with established governance frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and assurance processes, with the ability to ensure engineering outputs meet organisational and industry standards.
  • Background in construction, utilities, or major build programmes, particularly where engineering governance, configuration management, and design assurance are central to programme success.
  • Experience within the nuclear, defence, or other high hazard sectors, bringing familiarity with nuclear safety principles, security protocols, and regulatory expectations.
