CCL Fleet Management is a vessel repair and maintenance company supporting both third-party vessel owners and our own managed fleet of general cargo ships. Our team provides reliable technical services to ensure vessels remain operational, compliant, and safe.

We are seeking a skilled and qualified Plate Welder to join our growing marine engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced welder to work on a variety of fabrication, repair, and maintenance projects within the marine and ship repair sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality plate welding and fabrication work on vessels, marine structures, and associated engineering projects, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform plate welding operations in accordance with approved welding procedures and engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and welding documentation.
  • Carry out fabrication, repair, and maintenance work on marine structures, vessels, and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all welding work meets quality assurance standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work and rectify defects where required.
  • Work collaboratively with fabrication and engineering teams to deliver projects on schedule.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all health and safety procedures.
  • Travel to customer sites, shipyards, and vessel locations throughout the UK when required.
Essential Requirements
  • Qualified Welder with proven experience in plate welding.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding procedures.
  • Experience working with structural steel and heavy plate fabrication.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience within marine engineering, shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore industries.
  • Knowledge of vessel classification society standards and requirements.
  • Experience carrying out marine fabrication, repair, and maintenance activities.
  • Relevant welding certifications and coded welding qualifications.

Training and support will be provided for candidates who do not have previous experience with vessel classification requirements but demonstrate the right attitude and technical ability.
