CCL Energy Group is one of the UK's leading distributors of renewable energy products, supplying solar panels, battery storage systems, and associated electrical equipment to installers, contractors, and end consumers across the country. As the clean energy transition accelerates, we are growing rapidly — expanding our digital infrastructure, our product range, and our geographic reach across Europe.

This is a high-impact, senior leadership role at the intersection of digital commerce and the renewable energy revolution. As Ecommerce Manager, you will own the full ecommerce function — from platform strategy and team development to performance optimisation and international expansion. You will work at the heart of the business, collaborating with technology, sales, marketing, and operations to ensure our digital channels become a primary engine of growth.

  • Define and execute a compelling ecommerce strategy aligned to CCL Energy Group's growth ambitions in the UK and European markets.
  • Serve as the internal champion for digital commerce, influencing senior stakeholders and embedding a customer-first, data-driven culture across the business.
  • Identify new commercial opportunities — new channels, new markets, new product categories — and build the business case for investment.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a dedicated ecommerce team, setting clear objectives, fostering accountability, and building high performance.
  • Recruit and develop talent as the team scales, ensuring the right skills are in place to meet evolving business needs.
  • Act as the primary point of collaboration with internal development teams, briefing technical work clearly and managing delivery to time and quality.
  • Take ownership of the company's Magento 2 platform, driving continuous optimisation of functionality, performance, and user experience.
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of third-party integrations, extensions, and tools that enhance platform capability.

Digital Strategy, SEO & Paid Media

  • Develop and oversee integrated digital marketing strategies encompassing SEO, SEM/PPC, email, and content — driving qualified traffic and improving conversion.
  • Own the SEO roadmap, ensuring strong organic visibility for core product categories and new market entries.
  • Manage paid search and digital advertising budgets efficiently, optimising for ROI across both B2B and B2C audiences.

Customer Experience & Conversion

  • Take end-to-end ownership of the online customer journey — from first discovery through to post-purchase — for both trade and consumer customers.
  • Continuously test and optimise site content, navigation, product pages, checkout flow, and merchandising to improve conversion rates.
  • Ensure the platform delivers a differentiated, professional experience that reflects the quality of CCL Energy Group's products and service.

Analytics, Reporting & Performance

  • Establish a robust analytics framework, tracking and reporting on all key ecommerce KPIs to senior leadership on a regular cadence.
  • Use data to drive decisions — identifying trends, diagnosing underperformance, and capitalising on growth opportunities.
  • Build a culture of testing and iteration, using A/B and multivariate testing to continuously improve outcomes.
  • Work closely with sales teams to ensure the ecommerce function supports and complements trade account relationships and B2B customer needs.
  • Partner with marketing on campaigns, product launches, and promotional activity — ensuring consistency of message and maximising digital impact.
  • Collaborate with operations and procurement to ensure product data accuracy, stock visibility, and fulfilment integration are maintained at a high standard.
  • Play a leading role in planning and executing the expansion of the ecommerce operation into European markets, adapting strategy for local requirements.
  • Work with commercial and logistics teams to ensure the platform, pricing, and fulfilment are configured to support multi-country trading effectively.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of leading and growing an ecommerce function, with demonstrable results in revenue growth and platform improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with Magento 2 — including platform management, roadmap ownership, and working with development teams on implementation.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop and execute strategy, build business cases, and manage budgets effectively.
  • Experience managing and developing ecommerce or digital teams, with a track record of building capability and driving performance.
  • Solid understanding of SEO principles, paid digital channels (PPC/Google Ads), and digital marketing best practices.
  • Data-driven mindset — confident working with analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics 4), drawing insights from data and using them to drive decisions.
  • Excellent understanding of both B2B and B2C customer journeys and how to optimise the online experience for different audience types.
  • Strong project management skills — able to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively, and deliver against targets in a fast-moving environment.
  • Clear and confident communicator, comfortable presenting strategy and performance updates to senior leadership.

Additional Experience

  • Experience in the renewables, clean energy, or electrical distribution sector.
  • Background in B2B ecommerce, trade portals, or account-based selling environments.
  • Experience managing or supporting ecommerce expansion into European markets.
