Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Multiskilled Engineer role based in Thatcham. The Multiskilled Engineer will install, maintain, and repair conveyor belts and conveyor systems across a variety of industrial environments, ensuring minimal downtime and safe operation. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, performing vulcanising and belt splicing, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting conveyor belt commissioning and testing. The role also involves working with PVC strips and curtains, special belts from multiple manufacturers, and collaborating with colleagues and customers to deliver high-quality, timely service. The engineer will complete job reports, follow health and safety procedures, and may occasionally travel to customer sites as required.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical engineering skills, including installation, maintenance, and repair of conveyor belts and related systems.
  • Experience with industrial equipment fault-finding, including basic electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of vulcanising, belt splicing, and handling a range of belt types (EP belts, PVC belts, and special belts).
  • Familiarity with health and safety standards in industrial, quarry, and factory environments, with a commitment to safe working practices.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, use hand and power tools, and operate workshop equipment relevant to conveyor systems.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues on-site.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently under time constraints.
  • Relevant engineering or maintenance qualification ( NVQ, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience ) is highly beneficial.
  • Full UK driving license and flexibility to travel to customer locations as needed.
