Our preschool children are explorers, thinkers, creators, and storytellers. They’re asking big questions, developing independence, and discovering what they’re capable of.

We’re looking for a Preschool Room Leader who understands how important this stage is and who is passionate about guiding children through these final early years before they take their next big step into school. If you're an experienced Early Years professional who loves supporting children to become confident, capable learners, and who enjoys leading a team to create inspiring learning experiences, this could be your perfect next step.

This Role Is All About Growing Independence

As Preschool Room Leader, you’ll lead a team focused on helping children develop the confidence, resilience, and skills they need for school and beyond. Every day will be about supporting children to become independent, curious learners who are ready for the exciting transition into primary school.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the Preschool Room with energy, creativity, and confidence
  • Creating an inspiring environment that supports exploration, curiosity, and independence
  • Planning engaging learning experiences that support school readiness
  • Supporting children’s early literacy, language, and numeracy development
  • Encouraging problem‑solving, creativity, and confidence through play‑based learning
  • Preparing children emotionally and socially for their transition to school
  • Supporting and mentoring your team to deliver outstanding early years education
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with families as children approach school age
  • Ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and wellbeing

What We’re Looking For

  • A full and relevant Early Years / Childcare qualification
  • Strong experience working with preschool‑aged children in an Early Years setting
  • Confidence leading or mentoring a team
  • A strong understanding of the EYFS and supporting children’s development towards school readiness
  • A creative, enthusiastic approach to learning and play
  • A warm, supportive leadership style and a genuine passion for helping children thrive

Why You’ll Love Being Part of Murrayfield Nursery
