We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in quantity surveying within the construction industry. As a Trainee QS, you will support the commercial team in managing costs, preparing estimates, preparing subcontract and consultant orders and ensuring projects are delivered within budget. You will gain hands-on experience across a range of projects, working closely with experienced professionals while receiving training and support to develop your skills and progress towards a professional qualification (e.g. RICS or CIOB).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing subcontract and consultant order documents.
- Assist in preparing estimates, cost plans, and tender documents.
- Support the measurement and valuation of works (on-site and from drawings).
- Help monitor project costs and variations.
- Assist with subcontractor procurement and management, including issuing enquiries, comparing quotes, and preparing orders.
- Attend site meetings and liaise with site teams and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in producing reports for senior QS/commercial manager.
- Work towards professional qualifications and undertake relevant training.
Essential requirements:
- Strong interest in construction and commercial management.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Full UK driving licence (if required for site travel).

- Previous work experience in construction or a commercial role (e.g., through a placement or apprenticeship).
