About the role
The job holder will ensure the smooth management of the warehouse operation, with responsibility for the delivery of cost, service, compliance, people KPIs – in line with company and legal standards and requirements. Responsibility for the warehouse night shift with a support and deputy role for Warehouse Logistics Manager as required.
Key Duties
- Manage labour resources effectively to meet operational demand
- Ensure inbound goods are received accurately and to quality standards
- Work closely with stock teams to investigate variances and implement corrective action
- Deliver productivity and quality targets within agreed cost parameters
- Deliver daily, weekly and monthly operational plans
- Communicate proactively with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders
- Ensure the warehouse is fully operational, compliant and ready for shift handovers
- Support monthly reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
- Review warehouse layout and ways of working to optimise efficiency
- Ensure full compliance with company, customer and legal standards
- Complete warehouse and H&S audits through to corrective action sign‑off
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and proactively manage workplace risks
- Line manage, coach and develop team members
- Manage performance, conduct investigations and address people issues effectively
- Identify and support training needs, including mandatory compliance training
- Lead accident and incident investigations and communicate learnings
- Lead in line with company values and management principles
- Create a positive, safe and productive working environment
- Take ownership of challenges and implement practical solutions
- Drive change, innovation and continuous improvement across the operation
About you
- Proven management experience within FMCG, logistics or a similar operational environment
- Strong track record of leading, developing and motivating teams
- Strong people management skills (performance, engagement, ER issues)
- KPI-driven with the ability to manage targets and solve problems
- Highly organised, detail-focused and able to work under pressure
- Passionate about quality, service and Health & Safety
- Confident communicator at all levels
- Flexible to working patterns as required by the operation
- Knowledge of warehouse systems, cost control and Health & Safety
- IOSH Managing Safely – desirable
- Reach and Counterbalance MHE licence – desirable
- Proficient in MS Office – essential
