C&C Group plc is a premium drinks company which owns, manufactures, markets and distributes a unique portfolio of beer and cider brands in its home markets and across the globe. This role primarily sits in our wholesale distribution business, Matthew Clark Bibendum, a leading drinks wholesaler in the UK, known for distributing a wide range of beverages to the hospitality industry.

We are delighted to be recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join our Customer Retros finance team on a Permanent basis.

About the Role

The role is based in our modern office in Bristol. The purpose of this role is to assist with the administration, accounting and management of customer retros, which includes ongoing maintenance of rebate related master data in our pricing and rebate software. The role is ideal for anyone who is studying as it covers balance sheet control, P&L analysis, business partnering, master data management, amongst many other areas that will link with and complement their learning. This is an exciting time to join the team as we are rolling out some technology and process changes in the coming months and this role will be at the forefront of such change.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monthly reconciliation of retro debtors and creditors to nominal ledger and liaising with internal and external auditors
  • Creation of invoice back up and reconciliations of complex income/payment agreements
  • To provide high quality insight to customer performance against contractual targets and ensure integrity over balance sheet position
  • Running retros month end processes
  • Prepare meaningful analysis of retros out month end accounts
  • Working closely with the Sales Team and commercial finance to report on all areas of Customer retros and provide information for decision making
  • Liaising directly with sales force to resolve issues
  • Continuous improvement of retro processes
  • Assist with the coaching and development of members of Retro Team
  • Able to deputise for the Retro sub team managers
  • Assist the Retro Managers as directed with project work and ad hoc tasks

About you

  • AAT qualified or equivalent
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Good prioritisation skills with a proactive attitude
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Previous experience of working in a finance department and undertaking balance sheet reconciliations is essential
