Location: Hybrid working - Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. (Expectation is to be in the office for 2 days per week)

Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week.

What will I be doing?

C&C Group are looking for a self-motivated Product Manager to join our team. The role will be challenging, rewarding and multi-faceted and suit someone who enjoys the challenge of providing innovative data services and software solutions to help solve the problems faced by our clients.

  • A customer facing role that will also require the ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate client requirements to technical teams.
  • As a Product Manager you will become a key stakeholder within C&C Group with responsibility for ensuring that our products, including data services, meet the needs of our clients.
  • A creative role in which you will have a level of autonomy within which to work and empowerment to define your approach and contribute to the company.

The ideal candidate is an analytical team player who will be responsible for leading a team of high performing individuals who own the entire product lifecycle from strategy to evaluation. You will also work cross-functionally to complete product roadmaps and discover new opportunities.

What will my day look like?

  • You will need to provide advice to our customers regarding the capabilities and possibilities that our products and services offer.
  • You will need to be able to shape the future of the products (including ‘data’ as a product) and understand the techniques required to do so. This will include the creation of product roadmaps, release notes and documentation to support better customer understanding of the content of each product release.
  • You will manage the product lifecycle for existing and new products and act as the primary point of contact for our clients for queries relating to your products.
  • You will liaise with 3rd parties to determine how you can enrich existing products or add new products.
  • You will interact with our customers, capturing their requirements for change or adding new products and services.
  • You will be responsible for the product backlog for each of your products and approve the content of each release.
  • You will regularly review the backlog with the technical and project management team delivering each release.
  • You will be required to sponsor the projects that deliver each release and ensure that the delivered product meets the specified requirements.
  • You will be responsible for the communications plan for each product release.
  • You will provide training, as needed, to existing and prospective customers regarding your products.

More about you

Must have:

  • You will need experience of working within the electricity or gas sector and have an understanding of the key concepts and supply infrastructure within the UK.
  • A varied skillset combined with real world experience of at least 5+ years within similar scenarios.
  • Proven product management experience.
  • Have a business development focused mindset.
  • The ability to nourish and foster and take to market new initiatives.
  • The ability to work as part of a team in preparing tenders to win new business or retain existing business.
  • Confident communication skills with the ability to host conversations with groups or individuals of internal or external stakeholders.
  • Experience of working within the technology sector and an understanding of the software development and product management lifecycle.
  • Individually organised with the ability to manage your time effectively and prioritise tasks on merit.
  • Excellent listening skills with the ability to take real interest and understand the customers’ business requirements or issues.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within an organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of working across multiple IT projects at the same time.
  • A good eye for detail.

Highly Preferable:

  • Excellent analytical skills with an interest in data and systems.
  • Excellent presentation skills including the ability to use MS Office products to create engaging reporting and presentations.
  • Experience in digital transformation – legacy systems to modern architecture patterns (e.g. microservices).
  • Experience of using Microsoft Azure DevOps to aid with the documentation and tracking of requirements and software specifications.
  • An understanding of AI tools and their capabilities with experience of using more than one.

Nice to have:

  • Experience of using diagramming tools such as PowerPoint and Balsamiq for wireframing.
