CBW Staffing Solutions is currently recruiting an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to be based at a prestigious commercial building in Croydon, Surrey. Working as part of a close-knit on-site team of three engineers, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks across the building.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in Facilities Management and a proven track record in mechanical building maintenance. Hours of Work
Monday to Friday | 08:00 – 17:00
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain mechanical plant equipment
- Carry out work on pumps, motors, seals, and bearings
- Service and maintain air conditioning systems, including Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Fan Coil Units (FCUs) — filter changes, cleaning, and general upkeep
- Conduct water treatment checks, including temperature monitoring (non-dosing)
- Undertake plumbing tasks such as unblocking drains and toilets, replacing taps, washers, and general pipework repairs
- Monitor and respond to BMS (Building Management System) alarms and readings
- Carry out basic electrical duties, including lamp replacements
- Maintain general building fabric and carry out minor repairs
- Escort and supervise specialist subcontractors on site
Requirements
- Mechanical qualification — City & Guilds Level 2 or equivalent (Essential)
- Ability to provide copies of relevant trade certificates
- Proven track record in commercial building maintenance
- Multi-skilled with a flexible, can-do approach
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and colleagues
- Confident working in a client-facing environment
