General Maintenance Engineer - FM Service Provider - Chesterford, Essex - Up to £45,000

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable and well-regarded FM company, working on a commercial estate of buildings near Chesterford as part of a close-knit, experienced maintenance team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the site, carrying out a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to a multi-skilled engineer who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in maintaining high standards across a busy commercial environment.

Requirements

  • City & Guilds / NVQ (beneficial)
  • 17th or 18th Edition
  • Must be able to provide copies of trade certificates (essential)
  • Proven track record in commercial building maintenance
  • Understanding of L8 water treatment, pumps, and air handling units (essential)
  • Multi-skilled
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Emergency lighting checks
  • Fire alarm and sprinkler testing
  • AHUs/FCUs - filter changes, belt changes, actuator changes, coil cleans
  • Pumps - PPMs and strip-downs (seals, bearings, valves, overhauls)
  • Motors - PPMs (re-winds, overhauls)
  • Water treatment - dipslides, p H and temperature testing, chlorination, chemical dosing
  • Water pressurisation units
  • Chlorinators - annual inspection, descaling
  • Condensers and condenser returns
  • Cooling towers
  • Softeners
  • Boilers - re-sets
  • Chillers - re-sets, first-line fault diagnosis
