Maintenance Supervisor – FM Service Provider – Education Contract - Barking, Essex – Β£53,400

CBW is currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join a leading FM Service Provider on a well-established education contract based in Barking. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Electrical Supervisor looking to take on a key position within the contract, combining hands-on electrical knowledge with team leadership and responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of building services.

The role involves covering two sites located less than five minutes from each other, providing engineering oversight and support across both locations. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring electrical maintenance, compliance and engineering standards are consistently maintained across both sites, while supporting the smooth and reliable operation of the contract.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday – 08:00am to 17:00pm, Call out rota (1-3)

Key duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leading and supporting the on-site engineering team, ensuring high standards of technical performance and service delivery across both sites.
  • Taking responsibility for the day-to-day electrical maintenance and engineering operation of the contract.
  • Overseeing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across electrical building services.
  • Carrying out and overseeing fault finding, repairs and maintenance on electrical systems and associated equipment.
  • Ensuring electrical systems are maintained in line with current regulations, compliance requirements and site procedures.
  • Acting as a key technical point of contact for electrical and general building services matters.
  • Managing specialist electrical subcontractors from attendance through to completion, including reviewing reports and progressing remedial works.
  • Maintaining high standards of statutory compliance, Health & Safety and electrical engineering documentation.
  • Reviewing RAMS and issuing and controlling Permits to Work in accordance with site procedures.
  • Monitoring CAFM systems, outstanding PPMs, reactive tasks and engineering performance across both sites.
  • Identifying electrical faults, plant defects and technical issues and ensuring appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Assisting with quotations, scopes of work and technical recommendations for remedial and additional works.
  • Monitoring contract KPIs and SLAs and supporting continued improvements in engineering performance.
  • Supporting the Contract Manager with the smooth day-to-day delivery of the contract.
  • Build strong relationships with the client, engineering team and specialist contractors.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical Installation or equivalent electrical qualification.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience within a building services environment.
  • Previous experience working within Facilities Management / building services, ideally within a commercial, education or similar environment.
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems including LV distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, power supplies and associated building services equipment.
  • Good understanding of electrical compliance, safe systems of work and statutory requirements.
  • Experience supervising engineers and managing specialist subcontractors.
  • Good understanding of RAMS, Permits to Work and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Experience working with CAFM systems and engineering documentation.
  • Confident and professional client-facing skills.
  • Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership and maintain high engineering standards across both sites.
  • Enhanced DBS required (Current or willing to undertake).
  • Must hold a current driving license.
