Are you a seasoned safety professional with a passion for cutting-edge aerospace systems? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a System Safety Engineer to play a pivotal role in the development of next-generation integrated sensing and communications technologies for future air combat platforms.
This position is part of a high-profile programme delivering an Integrated Sensor and Non-Kinetic Effects (ISANKE) and Integrated Communications Systems (ICS) suite, which will be flight-tested on an advanced demonstrator aircraft.
Key Accountabilities – System Safety Engineer
- Lead the development and delivery of safety artefacts across complex, integrated subsystems.
- Conduct and coordinate safety analyses at both system and aircraft levels, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Provide expert safety guidance and assurance to support system design authority decisions.
- Identify intrinsic and functional hazards, define and support mitigations to ensure residual risks are reduced to ALARP.
- Develop and manage safety requirements and ensure their correct allocation throughout the system architecture.
- Review and integrate safety analyses from multiple subsystem teams into a cohesive system-level assessment.
- Present integrated safety assessments during major programme design reviews.
Skills and knowledge required – System Safety Engineer
- Proven experience in system safety engineering within safety-critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety processes across the engineering lifecycle.
- Familiarity with standards such as ARP4754B, ARP4761A, DO-254 or DO-178C.
- Demonstrated ability to lead safety activities and manage cross-functional inputs.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical writing skills.
