Role - Manufacturing Engineer
Location - Kidderminster, UK
My client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering/CMM Programmer for an opportunity within the aerospace and defence manufacturing sector. The role is focused on developing, validating, and optimising CMM inspection programmes for high-precision components, working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Design and Production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and optimising CMM inspection programmes for LK Metrology CMMs
- Programming complex 3D inspection routines from CAD models
- Interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T requirements
- Supporting NPI, industrialisation and First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Investigating dimensional non-conformances and supporting root cause analysis
- Supporting MSA, Gauge R&R and capability studies
- Improving inspection strategies and reducing cycle times
- Maintaining CMM programmes, inspection documentation, and work instructions
- Working within AS9100/EN9100 and other highly regulated quality environments
What We’re Looking For
- Precision metrology and CMM programming
- GD&T and engineering drawings
- CAD-based inspection programming
- NPI / manufacturing process validation
- SPC and MSA
- PC-DMIS, CAMIO or similar metrology software would be advantageous
- AS9100/EN9100 and AS9102 knowledge would also be beneficial
The role would suit someone with a strong Manufacturing Engineering background who is looking to take ownership of CMM programming and inspection strategy within a technically demanding environment.
