/li /ul p br /p p We are supporting a leading strong UK defence and aerospace organisation /strong with the appointment of a strong Production Technical Manager /strong at its manufacturing site in Kidderminster. /p p This is a newly created engineering leadership position, offering the opportunity to establish and lead a new strong Production Technical Support function /strong while taking technical ownership across a complex product portfolio from manufacture through to in-service support. /p p br /p p The successful candidate will work closely with strong Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Programmes and Supply Chain /strong , providing technical leadership and engineering direction to ensure products remain technically robust, manufacturable, compliant and supportable throughout their lifecycle. /p p br /p p strong The Role /strong /p p br /p p As Production Technical Manager, you will act as a key engineering focal point for technical issues arising during strong manufacture, assembly, integration and product support /strong . /p p br /p ul li Providing technical leadership across products currently in production and in service /li li Leading a newly formed Production Technical Support engineering team, including supporting recruitment and team development /li li Acting as the engineering focal point for complex technical issues affecting manufacturing and product performance /li li Leading investigations into production non-conformances, technical failures and customer issues /li li Developing and implementing robust corrective and preventative actions /li li Supporting Design Authorities and the Head of Engineering in maintaining product technical integrity /li li Providing technical direction across multidisciplinary engineering teams /li li Ensuring engineering decisions are appropriately documented, justified and communicated /li li Supporting Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and Programme teams to minimise production disruption and maintain delivery performance /li li Providing technical support for customer queries relating to production and in-service products /li /ul p br /p p strong Engineering Change Production Support /strong /p p br /p p A significant part of the role will involve supporting the controlled introduction of engineering and manufacturing changes into production. /p p br /p ul li Lead engineering support for the embodiment of product design changes following pre-production design validation /li li Support the management of component and material obsolescence /li li Lead technical support and product validation activities associated with changes to manufacturing equipment and tooling /li li Support improvements to engineering change management processes /li li Ensure changes are implemented in a controlled and technically robust manner /li li Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to maintain configuration control throughout the product lifecycle /li /ul p br /p p strong In-Service Surveillance /strong /p p br /p p You will also take technical leadership for strong In-Service Surveillance activities /strong , analysing product performance and surveillance data to identify technical risks, trends and opportunities for improvement. /p p br /p ul li Leading the technical delivery of In-Service Surveillance programmes /li li Producing customer-facing technical deliverables /li li Analysing surveillance data and product performance trends /li li Developing engineering recommendations to improve reliability, safety and lifecycle performance /li li Supporting customer technical reviews relating to product performance and service life /li /ul p br /p p strong Leadership Stakeholder Management /strong /p p br /p p This is both a strong technical leadership and people management /strong position. /p p br /p p You will initially help establish the new Production Technical Support team, including recruitment, development and definition of the teams capability. /p p br /p ul li Lead, mentor and develop engineers within the team /li li Establish clear objectives and development plans /li li Support the development and training of Design Authorities /li li Promote engineering best practice and knowledge sharing /li li Provide technical guidance and coaching in problem-solving and troubleshooting /li li Build strong relationships across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Programmes and Supply Chain /li li Represent Engineering within Level 3 QRQC activities and lead the rapid resolution of engineering actions /li li Provide effective technical communication to both internal stakeholders and customers /li /ul p br /p p strong What Were Looking For /strong /p p br /p p We are looking for an experienced engineering professional who can combine strong strong technical judgement with leadership, stakeholder management and practical production experience /strong . /p p br /p ul li A degree or HND in strong Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline /strong /li li Significant engineering experience within strong aerospace, defence or another highly regulated manufacturing environment /strong /li li Experience supporting products through strong manufacture and into service /strong /li li Strong knowledge of strong engineering change management and configuration control /strong /li li Proven experience leading investigations into complex technical and production issues /li li Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering stakeholders /li li Strong understanding of strong product lifecycle management /strong /li li Experience working within strong EN9100 or another highly regulated engineering environment /strong /li li Excellent technical problem-solving and decision-making capability /li li Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills /li li Experience managing and developing engineering teams /li /ul
