Mechanical Engineer – Complex Design Change & Continuous Improvement

South Buckinghamshire / Middlesex / Berkshire / Surrey (Hybrid)

Engineering that never stops evolving.

We’re supporting a world-class engineering organisation entering a new phase of growth — and looking for a Mechanical Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, driving design improvements, and ensuring critical mechanical systems perform flawlessly.

In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of design, investigation, and continuous improvement — analysing technical issues, developing solutions, and delivering design updates that enhance performance, reliability, and compliance across a portfolio of precision‑engineered products.

You won’t just be “fixing drawings” — you’ll be owning the engineering process. Taking ownership of design updates driven by error reports, non‑conformances, or improvement ideas — working from root cause through to redesign, validation, and release.

You’ll collaborate with manufacturing engineers and materials specialists to ensure every modification meets demanding performance and safety standards — and contributes to the reliability of critical, life‑saving systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Respond to design change, non‑conformance, and exemption requests.
  • Update 3D models and drawings to support design evolution and CI initiatives.
  • Create and test prototypes to prove new concepts or corrective actions.
  • Research new materials, processes, and technologies to enhance future product performance.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

What you’ll bring:

  • Degree‑qualified in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong 3D CAD capability (Creo, NX or similar).
  • Experience of change management, error investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Background in Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, or other high‑integrity mechanical systems.
  • A methodical, detail‑driven mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.

This is the kind of engineering where the details matter — because people’s lives depend on getting them right.
