Field Service Engineer – Medical Equipment
Location: Luton / Dunstable – covering LU, MK, AL and HP postcode areas
Salary: £33,250 + Bonus + Company Vehicle
Are you a White Goods Engineer, ex-military technician or hands‑on electro‑mechanical repair engineer looking for a new career opportunity?
A leading manufacturer of medical sterilisation equipment is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join its team, covering customers across Luton, Milton Keynes, St Albans and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical engineering background who enjoys fault finding, repairing equipment and working independently. Previous medical equipment experience is not required, as full product training will be provided.
You’ll be responsible for installing, servicing and repairing autoclaves – specialist equipment that uses steam to sterilise reusable medical and surgical instruments.
Working across hospitals, dental practices, GP surgeries and other clinical environments, you’ll help ensure essential medical equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.
Who could this opportunity suit?
We’re particularly interested in hearing from:
- White Goods Engineers – experience repairing domestic appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, tumble dryers and refrigeration equipment.
- Ex-Military Engineers and Technicians – individuals with an electrical, mechanical or electro‑mechanical engineering background gained through the Armed Forces.
- Service and Maintenance Engineers – experience diagnosing faults, repairing equipment and carrying out preventative maintenance.
- Electro-Mechanical Technicians – hands‑on experience working with electrical and mechanical systems, components and equipment.
You don’t need to have worked in healthcare or medical equipment previously. What’s important is your practical engineering ability, fault finding skills and willingness to learn.
The Role
- Install, service, maintain and repair medical sterilisation equipment at customer sites.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and electro‑mechanical faults.
- Carry out repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Manage your own service visits across the LU, MK, AL and HP postcode areas.
- Build positive relationships with customers, providing professional technical support.
- Help customers with consumables and equipment requirements where appropriate.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday.
What We’re Looking For
- A practical electrical, mechanical or electro‑mechanical engineering background.
- Experience fault finding, repairing or maintaining equipment.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Ideally based in or around Luton / Dunstable.
- No medical equipment experience is necessary – full product training will be provided.
Salary & Benefits
- Company vehicle.
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
- Pension scheme and life assurance.
- Company sick pay.
- Health cash plan covering dental, optical and therapies.
- Full product training and ongoing development.
- Retail and health club discounts.
- 24/7 advice line for legal, health and wellbeing support.
