Overview
In this DevOps Engineer role, you will support a UK Government digital transformation programme with a focus on Python-driven backend systems, APIs and automated workflows. You’ll work within a secure, large-scale environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable cloud-native solutions. You will build and maintain automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure, ensuring secure operations. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge tech in a mission-driven setting, with a clear focus on security and scalable delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop backend services and APIs using Python, with emphasis on automation and microservices
- Integrate and automate Kubernetes-based deployments and API workflows
- Manage cloud resources on AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda) and maintain related SDKs (boto3, aws-sdk-go-v2)
- Implement secrets management with HashiCorp Vault and ensure secure access controls (LDAP/AD integration)
- Define and maintain CI/CD pipelines and source control (Git)
- Conduct Python testing (pytest, unittest, mocking) and ensure robust automated verification
- Collaborate with security and platform teams to meet government-grade security and governance requirements
- Support onboarding and vetting processes in a secure government environment
Key requirements
- Active SC clearance
- Single nationality criterion
- Strong Python development experience (backend, APIs, microservices)
- Go / Golang development experience
- AWS expertise (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda) and AWS SDKs (boto3, aws-sdk-go-v2)
- Kubernetes API integration & automation
- HashiCorp Vault and secrets management
- LDAP / Active Directory integration
