The Role

Reporting directly to the SHE Manager, you will support the development and implementation of SHE strategies, policies and procedures, ensuring they align with UK legislation and organisational standards. You will provide practical SHE advice across the site, undertake audits and inspections, support incident investigations and help promote a positive and proactive safety culture. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of strategic Safety, Health & Environmental plans.
  • Develop and implement SHE policies and procedures in line with UK legislation and organisational standards.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate SHE incidents and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Monitor and analyse SHE performance metrics and prepare reports for management.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and support emergency preparedness drills.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and support the timely submission of required reports and documentation.
  • Promote a positive and proactive culture of safety, health and environmental awareness.
  • Manage relationships effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and relevant external organisations.

About You

We are looking for a proactive SHE professional with at least three years' relevant experience, ideally gained within a Manufacturing/Engineering or high-hazard environment. You will have a sound understanding of health and safety legislation and be confident applying your knowledge in a practical workplace environment.

Qualifications

NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent.

Experience

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working within a manufacturing or high-hazard environment.
  • Experience conducting audits and inspections.
  • Experience investigating incidents and near misses.
  • Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with ISO 45001 would be advantageous.

Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, technically complex manufacturing environment where Safety, Health and Environmental performance is fundamental to the organisation's operations. You will have the opportunity to broaden your SHE experience, develop your environmental knowledge and play an important role in maintaining and improving safety standards across the site.
