You would be responsible for leading the programme and bid management function, providing senior oversight of a portfolio of complex programmes and bids across the business. The role ensures effective governance, delivery, and commercial performance across all programmes and bids. It includes leadership of Programme Managers who manage bids from opportunity through to contract award and into delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop a high-performing team of Programme and Bid Managers
- Own the health, governance, and performance of the programme and bid portfolio
- Oversee bid strategy, execution, resourcing, and approval processes
- Ensure effective transition from bid phase into programme delivery
- Manage programme governance including cost, schedule, risk, and change control
- Balance resources across live programmes and active bids
- Provide regular reporting and updates to senior leadership
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, customer requirements, and regulations
- Lead risk, issue, and opportunity management across all activities
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking
- Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned across the lifecycle
- Support recruitment, succession planning, and team development
- Provide input and support to engineering and internal development projects when required
- Liaise with customers and subcontractors to support programme execution
- Background in project/programme management, ideally in defence or regulated industries
- Experience managing bids and programmes from concept to delivery
- HND or degree level qualification (or equivalent experience)
