My client is supporting a pharmaceutical manufacturing client who requires a senior, hands-on Electrical & Controls (E&I) Engineer to actively support on-site construction activities. This is a delivery-focused role, ideal for someone who can “get stuck in” on the ground, work closely with contractors, and ensure electrical/control installations are completed safely, to spec, and ready for commissioning in a GMP environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide site-based electrical & controls engineering support during construction and installation phases.
  • Oversee and coordinate contractors delivering electrical power and control/instrumentation scope (LV distribution, panels, cabling, containment, instrument installation, etc.).
  • Perform field engineering: resolve clashes/queries, manage technical decisions, and support RFIs, redlines, and as-built updates.
  • Support installation and quality checks including walkdowns, punch lists, and verification that installations meet drawings/specs/standards.
  • Interface with project engineering, automation, CQV/commissioning, and construction management to keep work progressing.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP expectations, site standards, and EHS requirements.
  • Support early commissioning readiness activities: loop checks, I/O checks, panel inspections, and coordination of FAT/SAT actions where relevant.
  • Maintain accurate documentation (installation records, test evidence, commissioning check sheets) and contribute to handover packs.

Requirements

  • Strong background as a Senior Electrical Engineer / E&I Engineer / I&C Engineer in regulated or industrial environments (pharma strongly preferred).
  • Proven experience supporting construction on site (not purely design office).
  • Solid understanding of electrical installations (LV distribution, MCCs/panels, cabling/containment, earthing/bonding) and controls/instrumentation fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with control systems such as PLC/SCADA/DCS (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, DeltaV or any relevant exposure).
  • Strong documentation discipline and ability to work within controlled processes.

Looking forward to speaking with you!
