We are a pioneering defence and aerospace organisation specialising in the design, development and manufacture of high-performance rocket motors and energetic systems. Our technologies power some of the most sophisticated platforms in operation today, supporting national security and allied capability around the globe.
The successful candidate will be part of the Operations department structure and is pivotal in solving manufacturing issues, improving processes and methods with manufacturing teams, driving change and continuous improvement to improve shop floor safety, quality, productivity, and new product introduction.
Core Responsibilities:- To provide & develop suitable methods, processes, and instructions for the manufacture of products to meet requirements of safety, quality & productivity
- Designing and implementing machine/tooling modifications to optimise output
- Deliver capital projects from concept to introduction
- Addressing any bottlenecks or issues with production
- To design basic jigs & fixtures, test equipment & tooling as necessary
- Providing technical support, guidance, and training to others
- Create standard operating procedures for technical tasks and process control documents
- Ensure safety requirements are understood and legal requirements are met
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Define and monitor KPI performance
- Identifying and implementing cost reduction improvements
- Working alongside the Quality team to verify effectiveness of quality control systems
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience within a production environment in a Manufacturing Engineering role
- Previous experience in lean manufacturing tools and techniques, including, but not limited to; value stream mapping, 6S, KanBan, Kaizen, MRL, PFMEA and SPC
- Experience in Manufacturing Engineering in an ISO 9001 environment
- Experience in project delivery and problem solving
- Experience of operating within a strong H&S Culture
Desirable Experience:
- Experience of EN9100, AS9100, ISO 14001, 18001 would be an advantage
- Experience in the Defence Industry would be an advantage
- Experience utilising quality tools and Advanced Product Quality Planning techniques including, but not limited to; Capability studies, DoE, 8D, Lean Sigma, Control Plans, APQP
