Trainee Field Service Engineer (Level 1) Apprentices or Junior Engineers welcome

Location: Cambridgeshire & surrounding areas (candidates ideally based in Herts, North East Essex or Cambridgeshire)

Travel: Regional role with UK-wide travel and occasional overnight stays

Salary: £28,350 + full benefits package

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a trainee engineer or newly qualified apprentice from any technical trade (electrical, mechanical, automotive, plumbing, HVAC, etc.) to step into a field-based engineering role, working on medical and care equipment including:

  • Profiling beds
  • Air pressure mattresses (APMs)
  • Assisted baths
  • Hoists
  • Scales and plinths

As a Level 1 Field Service Engineer, you'll focus on planned preventative maintenance (PPMs), installations, and basic repairs, supporting more experienced engineers with complex diagnostics. This gives you the chance to build real-world experience while developing your technical skills in a structured, supportive environment. This is a fully field-based role, travelling across your region and occasionally across the UK.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Carrying out planned servicing, inspection, and basic repairs on care and medical equipment
  • Installing and assembling profiling beds and air pressure mattresses
  • Supporting Level 2 engineers on larger or more technical jobs
  • Collecting and delivering equipment where required
  • Completing digital service reports via mobile device
  • Ensuring high standards of health & safety and customer interaction
  • Maintaining tools, van stock, and equipment

What We're Looking For

  • Recently qualified apprentice or junior engineers in any technical trade (e.g. electrical, mechanical, automotive, maintenance, plumbing, HVAC)
  • Hands-on, practical mindset with a willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach on customer sites
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel and stay away occasionally

Progression

Clear pathway into Level 2 Field Service Engineer. Opportunity to progress into fault finding, diagnostics, and repair work. Ongoing training and support from experienced engineers.

Salary & Benefits

Basic salary: £28,350. Company van provided. Paid door-to-door (40 hours per week). Bonus scheme (after successful probation). Overtime available. 23 days holiday, increasing to 28 days with length of service.
