Requirements

  • We need experience in defence communications, secure infrastructure, or military engineering environments, ideally gained in the RAF, Royal Signals, 14 Signal Regiment, REME, or similar roles.
  • We need a solid understanding of IT infrastructure, networks and networking, and radio frequency systems.
  • We need experience working with or for the Mo D, including operational or deployed defence infrastructure.
  • We need experience with Cisco networking equipment, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • We need experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, or 2022.
  • We need experience with VMware ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • We need experience with LAN, WAN, and VLAN networking.
  • We need experience with encryption and cryptographic devices.
  • We need experience in hardware installation, fault finding, preventative maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • We need experience producing technical documentation, service reports, and maintenance records.
  • We need experience working within controlled change, release, and configuration management processes.
  • We need an HNC, HND, or degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
  • We need a full UK driving licence.
  • We need willingness and eligibility to obtain SC and DV Security Clearance.
  • We need flexibility to travel to customer sites, including occasional overseas travel.
  • We need availability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, one week in four.

Responsibilities

  • We commission, configure, and support secure networking and encryption equipment.
  • We carry out planned maintenance, patching, firmware updates, and system audits across customer sites.
  • We diagnose and repair complex hardware faults through structured root cause analysis.
  • We install, configure, and maintain Windows Server, virtualised environments, and secure network infrastructure.
  • We support military exercises, demonstrations, customer trials, and acceptance testing.
  • We deliver operator and maintainer training to end users.
  • We provide first- and second-line remote technical support for customers.
  • We act as the technical interface between customers, engineering, logistics, and project teams.
  • We produce detailed service reports, technical documentation, and knowledge base articles.
  • We support software releases, deployments, configuration management, and hardware lifecycle activities.
  • We analyse field performance data to drive continuous improvements across products and support services.
  • We participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, one week in four.
