As a Materials & Production Planner, you'll play a key role in ensuring that every component, material, and process is ready to keep our rocket propulsion programmes firing on all cylinders. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our manufacturing operations, balancing material supply, production scheduling, and supplier performance to deliver world-class quality on time and on budget.

What You'll Do:

  • Run and maintain the MRP system to ensure materials and parts are available to meet production schedules.
  • Plan and procure raw materials, components, and consumables in line with build plans and lead times.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, track supplier performance, and resolve any shortages or delays.
  • Develop and maintain short- and medium-term production schedules, ensuring alignment with the Master Production Plan.
  • Keep inventory levels balanced — preventing shortages, reducing waste, and managing obsolescence.
  • Maintain MRP data accuracy, including quality assurance and shelf-life materials.
  • Work cross-functionally with Procurement, Logistics, Quality, and Production teams to keep everything moving smoothly.
  • Support stock control activities, reporting on KPIs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Mentor and support other team members, sharing best practices in planning and materials management.
  • Champion continuous improvement to drive efficiency and reduce costs.

About You:

  • Experienced in materials and/or production planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Skilled in using MRP/ERP systems (Tropos experience a plus).
  • Confident managing complex BOMs, long lead times, and multi-stage processes.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable juggling competing priorities.
  • Strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (including Maths & English) and a Level 3 qualification (A-Level or equivalent).
  • IT literate with strong Excel and MRP/ERP system skills.
  • (Desirable) Vocational qualification such as CIPS, CILT, APICS, IOSCM or equivalent.
