Role Title: Azure Engineer Location: Remote Duration: 3 months rolling Rate: £620 per day inside ir35 SC security clearance is required for this role Job Description We are looking for an experienced Azure Engineer to support the management, transformation and optimisation of a complex enterprise Azure environment. This is a hands-on role covering Azure infrastructure, Entra ID, cloud migration, governance, security and Infrastructure as Code, with a strong focus on automation and operational excellence. You'll play a key role in designing and evolving cloud environments, supporting on-premise to Azure migrations, strengthening security and governance, and building repeatable automated deployment capabilities using Terraform, ARM and CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record managing enterprise-scale Azure environments and be comfortable working across identity, networking, compute, storage, security and cloud governance. You'll need to be equally confident troubleshooting complex Azure environments and implementing the automation and controls required to make them scalable, secure and cost-effective. Responsibilities Tenant Management: Oversee Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), managing users, groups, application registrations, and licensing. Architecture & Migration: Design and support the transition of on-premises infrastructure to the cloud, including end-to-end tenant-to-tenant migrations. Governance & Policies: Enforce Azure policies, role-based access control (RBAC), management group structures, and tagging standards to prevent resource sprawl. Automation & IaC: Build reusable deployment modules and CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or ARM templates. Security & Compliance: Monitor threat landscapes via Microsoft Defender, implement least-privilege models, and remediate vulnerabilities to maintain compliance. Cost & Performance Optimization: Utilize Azure Advisor and cost-management tools to right-size virtual machines and optimize cloud spend. Required Qualifications & Skills Experience: 3-5+ years of hands-on experience managing and scaling enterprise Azure environments. Identity & Access: Deep understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and conditional access policies. Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python for automation tasks. Cloud Infrastructure: Solid knowledge of Azure compute, networking, storage, and monitoring solutions (e.g., DataDog). Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly desired.
