Requirements
- We have experience in data engineering within enterprise data transformation programmes.
- We have experience with data catalogue platforms such as Informatica or similar technologies.
- We have ETL/ELT development and data integration experience.
- We are proficient in SQL and Python.
- We have experience in data modelling and metadata management.
- We understand data governance and catalogue best practices.
- We have API integration experience and have worked with structured and semi-structured data.
- Defence or MOD experience is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- We assess existing data catalogue content, metadata and connected data sources.
- We evaluate metadata quality, completeness and migration suitability.
- We define mapping specifications, transformation rules and data enrichment requirements.
- We identify migration risks, dependencies and recommendations.
- We support backlog refinement and prioritisation of catalogue onboarding activities.
- We design and develop ETL/ELT processes to support data ingestion and transformation.
- We collaborate with architects and business stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions.
- We produce high-quality technical documentation throughout the programme.

We are delivering a major data transformation programme and are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support the migration of enterprise data catalogue capabilities as part of a large-scale digital and data modernisation initiative.
This is a contract role offering £400 to £525 per day inside IR35, with a hybrid working arrangement based in Corsham one to two days per week on a rolling three-month contract.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team alongside Data Architects, Business Analysts and technical stakeholders to migrate metadata, governance artefacts and technical assets into a modern data catalogue environment, helping to improve data governance, accessibility and operational efficiency across a complex enterprise landscape.
