Test Engineer / Test Analyst Contract: 8-9 month contract + extensions likely Rate: Up to £575 per day Inside IR35 Security Clearance: Active, transferable DV clearance required Nationality: Sole British nationality required Bristol based role The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer / Test Lead to ensure the quality, reliability, performance and security of an enterprise Platform as a Service environment. You will lead testing activities across platform services and user-facing functionality, combining manual and automated testing approaches. You will be responsible for defining test coverage, managing test schedules, analysing results and ensuring defects are identified, reported and resolved effectively. Working closely with technical teams and senior stakeholders, you will provide clear reporting on test progress, risks and quality metrics to support successful platform delivery. Key Responsibilities Own test coverage and ensure test cases are prioritised across testing phases. Develop and manage verification and validation plans, schedules and test strategies. Deliver manual and automated testing across platform services and user-facing functionality. Define and analyse test metrics, using results to identify risks and drive improvements. Implement iterative testing approaches to identify and resolve defects early. Raise and manage engineering tickets for defects and technical issues. Produce regular test reports, management information and performance metrics. Communicate testing risks, findings and recommendations to technical teams and senior stakeholders. Work with platform management and engineering teams to ensure quality standards are maintained. Essential Skills & Experience Strong experience in a Senior Test Engineer, Test Lead or equivalent role. Broad understanding of the software testing lifecycle and test methodologies. Experience developing test plans, schedules, test cases and measurable success criteria. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including test metrics and defect management. Experience working with virtualised environments. Experience testing air-gapped systems. Excellent communication, planning and stakeholder management skills. Desirable Skills Experience with test automation tools and frameworks. Knowledge of ITIL service management processes. Experience working in platform or infrastructure testing environments. Strong client-facing and consulting skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively across technical teams.
