Our Tax team has a great opportunity for an entry-level, part-qualified accountant with experience in VAT compliance to join our team.
About the role
The VAT Accountant will be responsible for preparing domestic and overseas VAT returns related to the UK ADV and UK&I GWS businesses. Supporting the VAT Compliance Manager and working closely with third-party advisors, this role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely VAT compliance.
What you will be doing:
- Preparation of UK VAT return for CBRE Ltd VAT group, including running reports from Peoplesoft, obtaining relevant transaction information, performing data checks, preparing VAT return figures, VAT reconciliations, and payment requests.
- Overseas VAT compliance, maintaining calendars, preparing data for overseas returns, reviewing prior period reconciliations, and ensuring timely filing and data management.
- Preparation of UK VAT returns for GWS entities in the UK and Ireland, similar to above, including data collection, checks, and payment requests.
- Overseas refund claims, preparing data packs including transaction reports and invoices.
What you will need:
- Part-qualified accountant or experience in VAT compliance.
- Strong attention to detail and proficiency in finance systems and Excel.
- Experience with VAT accounting and processes is preferable.
- Ability to manage deadlines effectively, be self-motivated, and prioritize demands under pressure.
- Confidence to ask questions and use initiative, especially in ambiguous areas.
