Senior Analyst, EMEA Forecasting (Economics)
Join CBRE UK as a Senior Analyst, EMEA Forecasting (Economics). The European Forecasting and Economics team has a set of models that produce forward-looking indicators of commercial real estate performance. CBRE\’s subscription-based platform provides unmatched intelligence that guides industry players\’ forward-looking strategies.
The team is looking for someone to help in developing the next generation of models, visualizations, and text insights. You will be joining a small team of economists/econometricians and will be required to use your economic and econometrics skills to improve and design models as well as explaining to non-experts the complex relationships between the economy and real estate performance.
Role: Senior Analyst, EMEA Forecasting
Location: London
Work Schedule: 3 days in office
Ideal Candidate: Successful candidates must be able to maintain quarterly forecasting workflows, apply regular tests to achieve continuous model improvement, analyze relevant data and market intelligence to input substantially into the team\’s quarterly presentations, reports, and commentary.
Responsibilities:
- Support the team with quarterly property forecasts and model improvement along with business discussions on trends and considerations.
- Help to write regular economic and property market commentary and be seen as the go-to for forward-looking performance in your sector.
- Author and/or co-author expert commentary and insightful thought pieces that position CBRE as a leading voice in the industry guiding transformational outcomes for investors and occupiers.
- Help the team to create views and forecasts on alternative sectors within the real estate sector.
- Understand and maintain relevant economic and property datasets.
- Input actively to research aimed at improving CBRE\’s data methodologies.
- Liaise with company sector specialists and research teams on data and forecasts, incorporate sentiment from key internal stakeholders.
- Produce and present forecasting outputs to internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Lead consultancy projects related to forecasting and/or other quantitative techniques.
- Work closely with other economists and data scientists, collaborate on research and development projects and continuous econometric model improvement.
Requirements:
- An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in economics/finance/statistics or a related discipline with a high numerical content. PhD students with commercial experience will be considered.
- Experience as an economist/forecaster (experience in quantitative analysis would be an advantage) is a plus.
- Experience in property research in a consultancy, investment management, banking, or finance would be an advantage but not critical.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, able to demonstrate good time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, with multiple/competing deadlines.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills particularly in econometrics.
- Experience of using EViews (or similar) and/or other statistical packages (e.g., STATA, R, SQL, and Python would be an advantage).
- Experience of working with Tableau, Power BI, and other visualization software an advantage.
- A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English plus one other European language would be an advantage.
- Self-motivated, strong attention to detail, and an ability to check own work.
- A critical thinker.
