About the RoleAs a CBRE Health, Safety and Environment Director, you will be responsible for the oversight of the department that creates and implements health, safety, and environmental programs for clients. This role is part of the Environment Health and Safety function and is responsible for organizational programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities.
What You\âll Do
Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee recruiting and hiring of new employees.
Coordinate and manage the team\âs daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and crossâtrain staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.
Approve all playbook and procedure changes. Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives drive program consistency and efficiency.
Review operational and safety risks. Execute strategic risk management strategies to avoid potential incidents.
Serve as point of contact for government agencies, professional health, safety, and environmental organizations, community advisory boards, company health, safety, and environmental officers, and all internal safety efforts.
Provide information to senior management about health, safety, and environmental issues, compliance, trends, performance, and concerns.
Ensure all regulatory compliance needs are met across all accounts.
Apply robust knowledge of multiple disciplines, the business, and key drivers that impact departmental and crossâfunctional performance.
Lead by example and model behaviours consistent with CBRE RISE values. Persuade managers and colleagues to act while being guided by the organization\âs functional business plans. Negotiate with external partners, vendors, and customers of divergent interests to reach a common goal.
Identify and solve multiâdimensional, complex operational, and organizational problems leveraging appropriate resources within or outside the department.
Significantly improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within the job discipline.
What You\âll Need
Bachelor\âs Degree preferred with 8â12 years of relevant experience; a combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention.
Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations, and handle problems.
Leadership skills to set, manage, and achieve targets with a direct impact on multiple departmental results within a function.
Inâdepth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Expert organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.
