Purpose of the job
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities Coordinator to support the daily operations of our office and laboratory spaces. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in facilities coordination who is looking to grow their experience in a technical, lab environment. Experience working in laboratory spaces is highly desirable but not required.
Responsibilities and daily activities:
- General Facilities Support
- Respond to facilities-related issues and service requests across office and lab areas.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, and vendor access for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
- Maintain clean, functional, and safe shared spaces such as meeting rooms, break areas, and storage rooms.
- Assist with basic support in laboratory areas, such as equipment coordination, vendor visits, and infrastructure upkeep.
- Work closely with lab staff to understand needs related to layout, logistics, and facilities requests.
- Safety & Compliance
- Support building safety procedures, emergency response planning, and routine inspections.
- Assist with documentation related to compliance, maintenance records, and safety audits.
- Manage incoming and outgoing deliveries, including coordination of lab consumables and facility supplies.
- Track and maintain key facility assets and coordinate small-scale moves or reconfigurations.
Personal Experience and Qualifications needed
Required:
- 1-3 years of experience in a facilities, office management, or operations coordination role.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to multitask and respond quickly to shifting needs.
- Comfortable working in a technical or scientific environment, with a hands-on approach.
- Prior experience supporting laboratory spaces
- Familiarity with lab infrastructure such as HVAC, gas lines, fume hoods, or biosafety cabinets.
- Exposure to EH&S practices and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, BSL, GxP environments)
