The Cboe office in London is situated in The Monument Building, a modern space that spans two floors and features a spacious outdoor balcony. Role Overview
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Web! We build websites that handle millions of requests per day, presenting high-quality market data to our members and the investing public. We operate at the tip of the spear, maintaining the primary interface for command and control of Cboe Europe's three Equities venues, the APA Trade Reporting service and SI Technology service. We are aggressive, yet agile. We care about user experience. We care about code quality. We care about testing. We care about automation. We are looking for like-minded individuals to join us.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Design, implement, extend, and maintain web software functionality, often requiring advanced knowledge and experience.
- Create customer documentation.
- Act as project manager for a feature across multiple parties.
- Strong Python and Linux knowledge.
- Strong JavaScript (ExtJS, React, NextJS), HTML/CSS, and Django knowledge.
- Basic UI/UX design skills.
- Design end to end solutions covering the full stack of web applications needs, including front end visualisations, backend API interactions and direct SQL database schema and query implementation.
- Implement automated unit tests and rigorously test changes to systems and platform functionality prior to deployment and work to resolve identified systemic issues.
- Help with production operations. Ensure features are correctly implemented in certification and production environments.
- Provide input into team sprint planning and participate in periodic team meetings.
- Participate in peer code reviews.
- Participate in requirements gathering and analysis.
- Write documentation, technical specifications, and requirement materials for our data and applications.
- Participate in internal and industry-wide weekend testing as needed.
- Ability to support production systems and applications of the exchange outside of normal work hours to ensure performance and high availability.
- Mentor other software engineers. SME (Subject Matter Expert) for one or more systems/technology.
- Prioritize and manage time effectively across projects in a deadline-driven environment; deliver quality solutions on schedule and within budget.
- Excellent communication skills. Regular communication with management, key stakeholders, and technical colleagues. Be a positive representation of software engineering internally and externally.
Cboe Europe operates in a flexible and hybrid work environment, with our teams working regularly from our offices in London and Amsterdam. Performs other related duties as required or requested.
The ideal candidate has:
- B.Sc Computer Science (preferred), B.Sc Computer/Software Engineering, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge.
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing high-performance, data-driven websites.
- Experience with MVC web frameworks (Django preferred).
- Experience with JavaScript and Python 3.8+.
- Familiarity with modern web standards, including HTML5 and CSS3.
- Experience with Linux or UNIX-like systems.
- Experience with Apache and ReactJS.
- Experience with SQL Databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Python unit testing and full-stack web testing.
