We are seeking reliable and enthusiastic Science Technicians to join our supply team as we are getting increased demand for Science Technicians in Secondary schools in the Wrexham area. As a Science Technician you will work closely with teaching staff to prepare practical lessons, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe and well-organised laboratory environment. This is a great opportunity for someone with a practical mindset who enjoys working in an educational setting and supporting students' learning behind the scenes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare equipment, materials, and resources for science lessons and practical activities
- Support teaching staff during practical sessions where required
- Maintain, organise, and safely store science equipment and chemicals
- Carry out routine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance of equipment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and inventory management
- Dispose of waste safely and appropriately
- Provide general technical support across Biology/Chemistry/Physics classes
The Ideal Candidate
- A good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in science and maths
- Practical science knowledge (school-based or laboratory experience desirable)
- An understanding of health and safety procedures in a laboratory environment
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A calm, flexible, and proactive approach to work
- Experience working in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential)
