KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The senior HSE Advisor will provide proactive Health, Safety and Environmental support to the offshore and onshore teams engaged on our contracts. This position reports to the HSE Manager AS West.
- Act as leader and focal point for contract activities on HSE matters, both onshore and offshore.
- Acts as support for the relevant operations team in driving performance in terms of leading and lagging indicators, strategic direction and tactical actions.
- Assist development and implementation of contract HSE objectives and targets in line with Company HSE Strategy.
- Take personal responsibility for safety and acts as a champion for Petrofac’s ‘Life saving rules.
- Co-ordinate delivery of Petrofac HSE themes and campaigns within the team.
- Supports the provisions of the ISO45001/ISO 14001/ISO 90001 systems.
- Active member of the Asset Solutions West HSE Team, sharing activities and supporting other Team members.
- Participates and supports development and review of procedures.
- Identify common performance issues and develops innovative solutions to address.
- Capture solutions to add to explicit knowledge base (i.e. HSE Plans, HSEMS procedures and guidance, campaigns and initiatives).
- Represent the Company and its Management Systems and arrangements to Clients and subcontractors.
- Identify common client initiatives/issues and develop common good practice approaches where possible.
- Supports induction process and ongoing communication efforts.
- Actively participates in routine meeting of H&S personnel.
- Supervises medics and offshore HSE advisors where appropriate.
- Ability to coach and mentor others.
- Is proactive in supporting and monitors synergi actions for timely closure, quality and calibre of action.
- Can chair ORA’s where necessary.
- Actively involved in planning and delivery of audits, reviews, reviewing data from active monitoring and incident investigations.
- Acts as an interface with the Petrofac/Client Occupational Health Teams.
- Co-ordinates and actively participates in Client and asset health, safety and environmental meetings.
- Prepare reports and statistics for contract for internal and external reporting and for Clients.
- Regular site visits, monitoring activities and processes, meeting staff and give briefings.
- Advises client on ER matters as appropriate.
- Supports the TURUS system.
- Can act as depute to the HSE manager where necessary.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- NEBOSH Diploma qualification or equivalent preferred.
- A high level of experience in offshore health, safety and environmental management.
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with all levels in the Company and in Client organizations.
- A strong team player with well-developed influencing skills.
- Solid problem solving capability.
- Can deliver quality work on time.
- Is prepared to innovate and challenge norms.
- Understands and can navigate the UKCS regulatory regime.
- Understand and support HSE systems including ORA’s, safe systems of work, HIRA’s etc.
- Use initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ideally, experience of offshore operations, ideally in hands-on operations or as site-based HSE Adviser.
- Demonstrable history of frequent site HSE visits over a significant period of time to gain practical experience.
- Significant experience as an onshore based HSE advisor.
- Developing business cases as required for potential safety improvements identified.
