Senior Restructuring and Workout Director – Commercial Banking

c.£150,000 to £175,000 per annum plus equity, bonus and benefits

Our client is a dynamic and entrepreneurial bank and a provider of banking facilities to SME trading businesses and the commercial real estate sectors.

As it continues with its impressive growth trajectory it is keen to appoint a senior professional to lead the banks\’ approach to complex and higher risk exposures across trading businesses.

The responsibilities include:

• The strategic leadership of restructuring and workouts.
• Leading engagement with stressed and distressed trading businesses with a focus on restructuring and value preservation.
• Developing tailored strategies across turnarounds, debt restructurings, refinancing, managed exits or enforcement where necessary.
• Cultivating strong relationships with management teams and external advisors, PE sponsors and debt funds.
• Owning and leading the execution plan and strategy on complex cases internally and externally.
• Presenting recommendations to Credit Committee backed by sound judgement and commercial rationale.
• Credit governance and portfolio oversight including watchlist and high-risk credit governance to shape recovery approaches.
• Providing insight into provisioning, monitoring and reporting practices.

The candidate requirements:

• 10+ years\’ experience in workouts, special situations or credit restructuring gained in SME / commercial banking, private equity or debt funds, financial advisory or turnaround firms.
• Demonstrable ability to work closely with PE sponsors, debt funds and senior borrowers in restructuring scenarios.
• Strong commercial judgement and a hands-on approach, focussing on helping businesses refocus and stabilise, not just exit.
• Board-level presence and relationship exposure with the ability in influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Able to operate at pace and with autonomy in a high-performance culture.
