A financial services consulting firm that works supports clients in legal, corporate and also government arenas, has a requirement for a Research Librarian to be based out of their UK base in London. The role is primarily responsible for providing research services involving business, legal, and specialized information sources to their consulting staff for billable casework, but has a wider information and library remit covering current awareness, collection development and information resource management. The role has become available due to growth, and the firms increased presence in both the UK and Europe. It is a standalone role in the UK, but will collaborate extensively with a team of peers in the US.
In this Research Librarian role, the key objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The provision of a UK and international business and legal research service
- The capture, organisation and management of research information
- Horizon scanning, particularly in regard to practice-specific information and news resources
- Identification, testing and on-boarding of new research and information resources
- Delivering training on information and research resources to consultants
- Collaborating with overseas colleagues and peers
- Supporting in the overall development of the Library and Information Services function
To be a suitable for this Research Librarian role applicants will require the following:
- Experience in a similar information services, research or library role within legal or professional services
- Familiarity withbroad range of legal and business research resources such as CapIQ, Bloomberg, Lexis and WestLaw
- Experience managing and developing hardcopy and digital collections
- A library qualification would be preferred, but is not a pre-requisite
- Refined communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills
- Capable of working both in a collaborative environment and also at times, with minimal supervision
- An ability to manage conflicting research priorities
