An extremely reputable international law firm based in London has a new requirement for a Senior Information Services and Research Manager. This role will be joining an award-winning Knowledge function and will head up a small team of extremely well-established and longstanding information professionals. For the past couple of years, this role has been operating in a project-oriented environment, particularly as the firm seeks to grow within the US and embraces the challenges of integrating AI capabilities into many aspects of the firm, including Information Services and Research.
A strong candidate will be an established information services or research leader, an outstanding relationship builder and ideally, but not essentially, have some exposure to the US market.
The primary objectives and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to:
- Leading a small team of information services professionals that are extremely capable and longstanding within the firm.
- Defining and implementing the information services and research strategy including the delivery of research and current awareness services.
- Overseeing the continuous development of the firm's training for research capability.
- Leveraging technology, especially AI, seeking out opportunities and identifying potential risks and implementing appropriate governance.
- Managing relationships with suppliers, resource procurement and budgets.
- Seeking out opportunities to continuously improve and enhance the services lawyers receive from information services and research.
To be a suitable candidate for this role, a strong mix of the following is required:
- Previous experience in an information services or research leadership role, ideally in a legal setting.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering on strategy and continuous improvement.
- Considerable expertise across business and legal information research, and able to operate as an SME.
- Experience in the management, procurement and budgets for information resources.
- Refined leadership, stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
- The ability to manage projects (often concurrent) from inception to delivery.
- A deep understanding of the legal information landscape including trends, risks, opportunities and in particular how technology (GenAI) is leveraged.
- A related qualification is extremely desirable, but is not essential.
